Goat health & safety!

Goats are naturally adventurous and playful! Taking note of the following will help to keep them safe:

  • Feed hay in racks rather than hay nets.  Goats (particularly those with horns) have been known to get their heads  stuck and strangle themselves in hay nets
  • Ensure any play equipment is free from any leg-trapping holes
  • Ensure raised play equipment is away from perimeter fences - otherwise your goats will use the play equipment to climb on and escape
  • Various plants are poisonous to goats, particularly laurel, box, ragwort, rape and yew
  • New born kids can drown in water buckets.  Ensure buckets of water are raised up so kids cannot fall into them
  • And finally, if any of your goats seem unwell please seek veterinary advice as soon as possible!
